The album I've had on repeat since last Tuesday is Andrew Belle's new album, Black Bear. It's full of depth, both musically and lyrically. And, compared to his first album, Ladder, (which I loved), this has a totally different sound. Which, unsurprisingly, was influenced by M83, Beach House, etc.
There are threads of faith, wrestling, running and being found. In fact, some of the major themes were influenced by C.S. Lewis and Flannery O'Connor.
"I love writing albums with a common thread, so it was my own notion or experience from a couple years back where I felt God was coming after me. It’s hard to explain and I don’t know what was going on, but I just couldn’t even resist it. In a lot of ways, I felt like I was being hunted down and sought after.
